Which DJI FPV drone should I buy in the UK?
For most UK pilots the DJI Avata 2 Fly More Combo is the best FPV starting point — prop guards, 4K/60fps, Goggles 3 and RC Motion 3 in one box. If you want to stay under 250 g and avoid extra registration weight classes, choose the DJI Neo 2 Motion Fly More Combo instead. For 360-degree capture, pick the Avata 360.
Do I need to register a DJI FPV drone in the UK?
If your FPV aircraft weighs 250 g or more, or carries a camera, you need a flyer ID and operator ID from the CAA. Avata 2 is over 250 g so both are required. DJI Neo and Neo 2 are under 250 g but still have cameras, so an operator ID is required. Full detail is in our UK drone laws guide.
Can I fly FPV goggles legally in the UK?
Yes, but UK rules require a competent observer to keep the aircraft in visual line of sight while you fly in goggles. You remain responsible for separation from people and obstacles at all times.
Avata 2 vs Neo 2 — what is the real difference?
Avata 2 is a true cinewhoop: faster, more capable in manual mode, better stabilised 4K footage and ducted prop guards for indoor and close-proximity flying. Neo 2 is under 250 g, far lighter on the wallet and easier to travel with, but slower and less capable in wind.
Is FPV footage good enough for client work?
Yes. Avata 2 shoots 4K/60fps with 10-bit D-Log M, which is widely used for property, motorsport and venue walkthrough work. Many operators pair it with a Mavic for wider establishing shots.
