The complete UK survey drone line-up — advised, supplied and supported
A survey drone is only as good as the workflow behind it. At Drone-Sales we build UK survey programmes end-to-end: aircraft selection, RTK / PPK base configuration, ground control setup, DJI Pilot 2 mission planning, and processing in DJI Terra, Pix4D, Agisoft Metashape or your chosen photogrammetry stack. Whether you deliver topographic surveys, volumetric stockpile reports, corridor mapping for rail and highways, cadastral work, BIM-ready point clouds or heritage documentation, we'll match the aircraft and payload to the deliverable — not the other way round.
For most UK survey teams that means the DJI Matrice 4E for fast RTK photogrammetry, the DJI Matrice 400 paired with the Zenmuse L3 LiDAR or Zenmuse P1 full-frame camera for larger sites, and the Mavic 3 Enterprise RTK when a portable centimetre-accurate mapping platform is enough. Every aircraft is UK-spec, configured to your CAA operational authorisation and dispatched with the correct GCPs, batteries and charging kit.
UK public-sector buyers can order on PO / NET-30 terms, and every purchase includes onboarding with a working UK surveyor — not a sales desk. Explore the enterprise drone range, read our 2026 UK drone rules guide, or jump straight to the surveying enquiry form above.
UK survey drone questions, answered
Which drone is best for land surveying in the UK?
For most UK survey teams the DJI Matrice 4E covers day-to-day RTK photogrammetry, while the Matrice 400 with the Zenmuse L3 LiDAR or Zenmuse P1 full-frame camera handles larger corridor, quarry and BIM projects. Where portability matters — heritage sites, urban infill, small topographic surveys — the Mavic 3 Enterprise RTK still delivers 3 cm horizontal accuracy with GCPs.
What accuracy can a survey drone realistically deliver?
With a properly configured RTK or PPK workflow and well-distributed ground control points, a DJI Matrice 4E or Matrice 400 will typically deliver 2–3 cm horizontal and 3–5 cm vertical accuracy on open sites. Zenmuse L3 LiDAR reaches similar accuracy under vegetation where photogrammetry cannot see the ground.
Do I need a CAA A2 CofC or GVC to fly a surveying drone commercially?
Any survey drone over 250 g flown for commercial gain requires an Operator ID, Flyer ID and appropriate CAA authorisation. A GVC (General VLOS Certificate) plus Operational Authorisation is the practical minimum for Matrice-class aircraft in populated survey environments. Read our UK drone laws guide and 2026 rules update before quoting a first job.
Can you process the survey data as well as supply the drone?
Yes — every survey aircraft is supplied with a workflow briefing covering DJI Pilot 2 mission planning, GCP layout, and processing in DJI Terra, Pix4D or Agisoft Metashape. Managed processing and QA of orthomosaics, DEMs and point clouds is available on request.
LiDAR or photogrammetry — which should I choose?
Choose photogrammetry (Zenmuse P1) for high-resolution orthomosaics and volumetric work on bare or lightly vegetated sites. Choose LiDAR (Zenmuse L3 or L2) when you need bare-earth models under vegetation, corridor mapping, powerline or forestry work, or when GCPs are difficult to place.
Do you supply survey drones on PO / NET-30 for councils and universities?
Yes. UK public-sector buyers, contractors and academic institutions can order any Matrice, Zenmuse or Mavic 3 Enterprise platform on purchase order with NET-30 terms. Speak to a specialist via the enquiry form above.
